Submit thank-you notes to special teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week

Submit Now

April means the start of the Virginia Lottery’s Thank a Teacher campaign, which aims to encourage people across Virginia to send personalized thank-you notes to K-12 public school teachers. Teachers have stepped up to the plate during the pandemic and deserve to be thanked for their efforts now more than ever.

Teachers will receive their notes during Teacher Appreciation Week, which is May 3 – 7, 2021, and can use a unique code included on each note to enter for a chance to win one of two Virginia vacations and $5,000 in supplies for the teacher’s school.

Digital thank-you notes can be submitted by visiting www.thankateacherva.com. The notes feature artwork from the three winners of the Virginia Lottery's Thank a Teacher Art Contest.

Speaking of Art Contest winners, here are those three budding student-artists:

Elementary: Sarah Saravanan, 1st grader at McNair Lower Elementary School in Fairfax County

Middle: Karmare Brownlee, 8th grader at Tabb Middle School in York County

High: Andrew Gibson, 12th grader at Gretna High School in Pittsylvania County

Each winning student-artist received a $150 Visa® gift card from the Virginia Lottery. The art department at each winner's school also received $1,000 from the Lottery and a $1,000 credit from The Supply Room.

Congratulations to all three winners!
