What better way to kickoff 2021 than by winning big? Read on to find out about the prizes claimed by Lottery players during the month of January!

January 2021 Winners

We had over $16 million in retail prizes of over $1,000 claimed and over $3 million in online-games prizes of over $1,000 claimed across Virginia during the month of January. The retail prizes were won by 2,006 players, and the online-games prizes were won by 659 players. That is over 2,600 players claiming prizes that totaled over $19 million.

One of those winners was Dovie Moore of Rockbridge County. She was on her way home from work when she stopped at a grocery store to get something to drink. At the store, she purchased a Super Bonus Crossword Scratcher. She won $100,000!

“It feels amazing!” she said as she received her big check from the Virginia Lottery.

Kenneth Thompkins of Woodbridge kicked off 2021 as one of four $1 million winners in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. “I looked at it once. I looked at it twice. I looked at it three times,” he told Lottery officials. “It’s unreal!”
